VMware View Client allows you to access a desktop remotely as a virtual desktop. This job aid will instruct you on how to download and install the View Client and navigate the VMware View. The steps may vary depending on your operating system.

Install View Client
- Open your browser and access url https://
- Click Download to accept the View Client option. See Figure 1.
- Click Go to Downloads.
- Locate the appropriate download for your operating system. (How will users know which operating system and 32bit vs 64bit client to download)
The Product download details page will open. Click Download.
Warning If you have selected the incorrect operating system download, you will receive an error. Return to the VMware website and select the correct operating system download option.
The Internet security program may block the download, indicated by a security warning in the information bar at the top of the Web page. If this occurs, right-click the security warning and select Download File.The File Download dialog box will open.
Click Run.
Note title NOTE A User Account Control dialog box may open, asking if you want to allow the changes to be made to your computer. If this occurs, click Yes.
The VMware View Client Install Wizard will open. See Figure 3.

This will bring you to the License Agreement prompt. - Select I accept the terms in the license agreement. See Figure 34.

- Click Next.
- In the Custom Setup dialog box Click Next. See Figure 5.

- In the Default Horizon Connection Server field type: view.health.usf.edu. See Figure 6.

- In the Enhanced Single Sign on dialog box Click Next.
- Click Next in the Configure Shortcuts dialog box.
The Ready to install VMWare Horizon Client dialog box displays. - Click Install.
A status screen will display in a dialog box. - Click Finish when the process has completed.
The VMware Client icon will display on your desktop/taskbar and you may be asked to restart your computer.
Access VMware View
- Double-click VMware View Client on your desktop.
The Connection Server dialog box will open. See Figure 4.

- Check the box next to Log in as current user to bypass the login dialog box. Click Connect.
Select the VMware View you want to open.
Info title INFO If you have dual monitors, you can extend the display by choosing Multimonitor form the Display drop-down menu.
- Click Connect.
The VMware View you selected will launch, initialize, and open. This may take several minutes. See Figure 6.
A dialog box will open, listing all the VMware Client Views you have access to. See Figure 5.

When saving in the VMware View, always save to your network drive. If you save the item to the desktop, it can only be accessed from that VMware View. |
