In addition to the overall Master of Public Health degree competencies, Health, Safety & Environment graduates will be able to:
- Describe natural and engineered environmental systems and their interrelationships with human activities and human health;
- Recognize health hazards that cause illness and injury associated with the environment and occupations;
- Relate the history of environmental health and safety issues to current practices and policies;
- Assess public health conditions and problems related to health, safety and the environment in developed and developing countries;
- Decide between alternatives, or strategies, to minimize or alleviate adverse environmental health and safety impacts;
- Apply technical knowledge and skill for the prevention or control of specific environmental health and safety problems;
- Interpret published environmental health and safety research findings; and
- Engage in environmental leadership activities at the community level, and communicate relevant information concerning environmental health issues.
