titleStep 4: Register for Classes

You were given an academic program plan in the email offering you admission to the USF College of Nursing.  You will use that academic plan as a guide to register in your courses throughout the program. Failure to adhere to the program plan can delay your graduation date.

  • Review the How to Check Registration Time & Holds document to understand your registration date and times, as well as what holds you may have on your account.
  • You can view registration holds in your MyUSF: OASIS; Student; Student Records; View Holds. Only the office that placed the hold on your account is authorized to remove the hold. Therefore, if you have questions regarding how to remove a hold, please directly contact the office that placed a hold.
  • Review the Course Registration Module to learn how to search for course sections, identify the Course Registration Number (CRN) and instructions on how to register for courses in OASIS using the CRN.

Registration Tips: CHECK WITH DR BRICKER

  • If you receive a "Field of Study Restriction" error when trying to register, make sure the CRN corresponds to your concentration.  You can click on the CRN to review concentration restrictions.
  • Classes with meeting times marked "N/A" or "TBA" are online classes.  There will be no future meeting times announced.
  • If a class has a specific meeting day and time (i.e. Mondays from 3pm-5pm), you will be need to be available during that time for in-person or synchronous learning. Generally, students can expect to be on-campus one day a month.  Please refer to class syllabi for in-person/on-campus requirements.

titleStep 5: Submit Florida Residency Documentation

Residency Classifications

Initial Classification

When you apply to the university, your initial residency classification is determined by the Office of Admissions based on information you provide with your application.

If you don’t provide sufficient information to determine your residency, you will be classified as a non-Florida resident for tuition purposes. It’s very important to respond to requests for information about your residency as soon as possible. Please review your official acceptance letter to ensure that your residency classification is accurate. You

The classification is based on the information you provide on your application. Failure to provide all relevant information, including copies of required documents, may lead to an initial classification as an "out-of-state" resident.

It is your responsibility to check your residency classification when you are admitted to the University of South Florida.

If you feel your initial classification is in error, you have until the last day of

classes in your first term to request a

the term of admission to contact the appropriate admissions office and request re-evaluation

of your initial residency status (Links to an external site.) by providing sufficient documentation. If your residency status is listed as non-Florida at the time that classes begin, you will be assessed out-of-state tuition charges.Once you have completed your first term at USF, you can request a reclassification of your residency status from the

. Once you have completed your first term, you may only request reclassification for future terms.

Reclassification

A Request for Reclassification and additional documentation must be submitted to the Office of the Registrar no later than the fifth day of the first week of the semester for which reclassification is sought. There are no exceptions to this deadline. Requests received after the published deadline will be considered for a future term only, and tuition will be assessed at the non-resident rate for that term. Please note, until a decision has been made on your request, you should consider yourself a non-Florida resident for tuition purposes. It is your responsibility to adhere to all fee payment deadlines for the term. If you are approved for in-state residency after payment is made, you will be refunded the out-of-state portion of your fees.

If you are submitting a Request for Reclassification for Summer term you must do so by the deadline specified, regardless of when your classes begin. The domicile year for which your request is evaluated is also the same and not depending on your summer class schedule.

If you have questions or concerns about your particular circumstances, please email the Office of the Registrar.

Need financial aid? Remember to submit your FAFSA before the January 1 priority deadline to be considered for the most types of aid possible. Many scholarships are needs-based and require a FAFSA.  Therefore, it is recommended you complete a FAFSA regardless of whether or not you will be applying for loans.

Tuition payment or a university deferment is due on the fifth day of the semester.  Please ensure you have funds or a deferment in-place to prevent being canceled from classes for non-payment.

Questions regarding Financial Aid can be directed to a Financial Aid counselor.
