Overview

The Work Remotely allows employees to work from home as if they were in their own office. A high-speed internet connection is required.

Excerpt

The feature will allow an employee to have a Voice over IP phone at home programmed with a USF telephone number and dial tone, utilizing the same features and functionality that are found at the USF campuses.

Types:

There are two scenarios that are ready for immediate deployment:

  1. Telecommuter – an employee who already has a VoIP phone on their desk and would like a duplicate phone at home.
  2. Remote Office – an employee who only works from home and needs a USF telephone number and phone to conduct their university business.

If an employee only has a standard (non-IP) phone on their desk but also wants to work from home, they will need to contact their Voice and Data Communication Specialist for more details. A site survey by an IT Technician will be required to find out what it will take to change your standard office phone to an IP phone.

Telecommuter

With this scenario, IT will provide the customer with a duplicate of their existing VoIP phone (a router and patch cord can be supplied if needed) and simple instructions on how to install and activate the phone.

Monthly Recurring Charge (MRC) for this feature:

  • *Model 4610 IP - $70.00 plus a one-time programming fee of $120.00
  • *Model 4620/21 IP - $110.00 plus a one-time programming fee of $120.00

*These charges are in addition to the MRC charges for your office phone.

Remote Office

With this scenario, IT will provide the customer with a VoIP phone, their own DID telephone number (a router and patch cord can be supplied if needed), and simple instructions on how to install and activate the phone.

Monthly Recurring Charge (MRC) for this feature:

  • Model 4610 IP - $70.00 plus a one-time programming fee of $120.00
  • Model 4620/21 IP - $90.00 plus a one-time programming fee of $120.00

Note
NOTE: Customers should never use this phone to make a 911 call. All USF telephone numbers and dial tone comes from the USF local Central Office and can only reflect the USF address in the 911 database.
