Rename a Page

Rename

Rename a page by changing its URL and Display Name.

The changes made by the Rename and Display name tools are permanent and can not be rolled back or automatically undone. Use caution and plan your changes beforehand.

Rename a Page’s URL

The Rename (URL) tool allows you to permanently change a page’s URL. This tool is accessed from the Home editing ribbon labeled at the top of the page.

  1. Navigate to the page you want to edit

  2. In the Home editing ribbon at the top of the page, find and select the Rename (URL) button. (If the ribbon is not expanded, click the tab labeled Home to expand it.)

  3. Click the button labeled Rename (URL).

  4. A modal dialog will appear displaying the current URL in the field.

  5. Highlight the field and type in the new URL.

  6. Click the OK button

  7. Publish your change with the standard Submit and Approve publishing workflow.

Internal Sitecore links will automatically update themselves to use the new URL but you will have to manually update any link that was created without that tool.

Rename a Page’s Display Name

The Display Name tool allows you to permanently change the title headline that is automatically displayed at the top of the page content. This tool is accessed from the Home editing ribbon labeled at the top of the page.

  1. Navigate to the page you want to edit

  2. In the Home editing ribbon at the top of the page, find and select the Display name button. (If the ribbon is not expanded, click the tab labeled Home to expand it.)

  3. Click the button labeled Display name.

  4. A modal dialog will appear displaying the current Display Name in the field.

  5. Highlight the field and type in the new Display Name.

  6. Click the OK button

  7. Publish your change with the standard Submit and Approve publishing workflow.
