Common Data Set

Common Data Set

Overview

The Common Data Set (CDS) initiative is a collaborative effort among data providers in the higher education community and publishers as represented by the College Board, Peterson’s, and U.S. News & World Report. The combined goal of this collaboration is to improve the quality and accuracy of information provided to all involved in a student’s transition into higher education, as well as to reduce the reporting burden on data providers.

Common Data Set is a voluntary submission. The UPSA team within ODS collects data from many areas in USF including: admissions policy & data, student data, faculty data, housing data, tuition & fees data, financial aid data, and fraternity & sorority life data.

Timeline

There is no specific deadline for the Common Data Set submissions, however, USF would prefer to have this submitted before large corporations, such as US News & World Report, use the data for rankings. This usually occurs early in the spring term (February).
