Wireless - Connecting to the USF-GOLD Network
Overview
This article shows how to connect to the USF-GOLD wireless network.
Android
- Locate and tap the Settings icon. (see image below)
- Check that Wi-Fi is turned ON. (see image below)
Tap Wi-Fi to show available networks.
If you've previously connected to the USF wireless network, you must first tell the phone to Forget about that network when trying to connect.
- Tap on USF-GOLD in the list of wireless networks. (see image below)
- Complete the authentication process by entering your NetID in the Identity field and NetID Password in the Password field. (see image below)
- Tap Connect. (see image above)
- Confirm you are connected to USF-GOLD. (see image below)
Android Devices that do not automatically detect settings
This section elaborates on how to setup a connection to USF-Gold on Android devices that do not automatically detect the proper settings for the secured network. Keep in mind that not all distributions of Android will allow for this process but the previous two (Jelly Bean and Ice Cream Sandwich) have been shown to work with these settings. This tutorial used a Nexus 7 running Jelly Bean as an example.
iPhone or iPad
- Locate and tap the Settings icon. (see image below)
- Tap the option Wi-Fi in the settings menu.
- Check that Wi-Fi is turned ON using the slider at the top of the screen
- Tap USF-GOLD in the list of wireless networks. (see image below)
- Enter your NetID in the Username field and password in the Password field. (see image below)
- Verify the wireless certificate by tapping Accept when prompted. (see image below)
- Confirm that you are connected to USF-GOLD. (see image below)
