Android Devices that do not automatically detect settings

This section elaborates on how to setup a connection to USF-Gold on Android devices that do not automatically detect the proper settings for the secured network. Keep in mind that not all distributions of Android will allow for this process but the previous two (Jelly Bean and Ice Cream Sandwich) have been shown to work with these settings. This tutorial used a Nexus 7 running Jelly Bean as an example.
Click to learn how to setup the network on a device that does not auto detect
  1. Tap the Settings icon
  2. Select Wi-Fi
  3. Select USF-Gold
  4. Select Connect to Network

On the most recent versions of Android, the menu with the advanced settings will appear automatically after selecting Connect to Network.

On older distributions, you will have to click Connect to Network and then long-hold the USF-Gold option.

  5. Select the Modify network config option.
  6. Enter the following settings on the menu:
    1. EAP method: PEAP
    2. Phase 2 authentication:  MSCHAPV2
    3. CA certificate:  unspecified
    4. User certificate: unspecified
    5. Identity:  yournetid
    6. Anonymous Identity:  Leave this option blank.
    7. Password:  yourpassword
  7. Click Save and the window should close. You may have to select the network again and click connect one more time.

The device should now connect to USF-Gold without any issues until the next time the user updates their NetID password.

If this happens, long-hold the USF-Gold option and select Modify Network. Then simply change the password and click Save again.
