Managing Images Using the Media Libary

The Media Library can be found within the Rich Text Editor and stores all of the images that have been uploaded to Sitecore. This window allows the Contributor to use images already in the library or add in additional ones. Recommended image types are jpg's and png's.

To Add an Image

Open the Rich Text Editor and click the area within the editor where you'd like the image to be added.

Click the insert Sitecore Media button within the toolbar:

In the Media Library click the Images folder first and then click the arrow next to the Images folder. A drop-down will appear with folders. Navigate to the appropriate folder in which you've been given permission to edit.

Choose an image you'd like to add within your appropriate folder or click Upload to add a new image to the folder.

NOTE: As a contributor your permissions will only allow you access to folders that are connected to your web pages. If the upload button is not functional, check to make sure you are in the proper area. It is important to only upload images within the area you've been given permission to edit to avoid images ending up random folders.

If you have uploaded a new image, do not define as an asset, do add Alt text. Alt text should be a short description of the image you are uploading.

When you are finished, click Save and Close.

Click Insert and your image should be visible within the editor.

Click Accept to make the change.

Note

Use the float image or paragraph settings functions to alter image location. See Sitecore Interface Overview Icon Function Chart to identify these buttons.
