Overview

This article will help guide you through locating your computer name. This is important for remote access use.

Windows 

For Windows 7

  1.  Select Start.
  2. Right-click on Computer and select Properties.
  3. Your computer name is listed under Computer name, Domain, and Work Group settings.

For Windows 8/8.1/10

  1.  Right-click the Start button.
  2. Click System.
  3. The computer name is listed under Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings.


If you are NOT able to log into the computer you can still check the computer name. From the login screen, opt to login as Other User. Inputting ".\" in the User Name field will display the name of the computer directly below the Password field.  

Mac

  1.  Select System Preferences
  2. Click on the Sharing pane.
  3. Your computer name is listed at the top of the new window.
