Sitecore Contributor Training Post Assessment

 

Steps to be completed:

  • Step One: Complete

Part I Tasks

  • Step Two:

Save the Test Page

    Step Three: Go the Service Ticket and add your Training Date and Access level in the Comments section

 

Step Four: Complete Part II of the Assessment

 
  •  Question 1 asks you to confirm the steps you completed for Step One. 
Part I 
  • Step Three: Notify us via your Service Ticket and include your: 

    • Training Date 

    • Completed Sitecore Test URL 

Step One: Part I Assessment 

Demonstrate the following actions:

  • Navigate to Test the test page
  • Make edits to the textSwap an image
  • Use the Media Library to upload and replace images and files
  • Swap Add a PDFnew component 
  • Add content to column builder

titleBefore you begin your Part I Assessment


  1. Download the assets folder by clicking here.
  2. Unzip the folder.

The assets found in this folder will be needed to complete your Part I Assessment. In the assets folder you will find:

  • 5 images, refer to these images for Task 2 and Task 4
  • 1 LincolnInauguralSpeech_End PDF you will use for Task 3
  • 1 file containing speeches you will use for Task 4

For issues with Sitecore editing and function, please consult the Sitecore Training documentation in Confluence.


Task One: Formatting

Component: Rich Text Editor
Objective: Format text 

  1. Open the Rich Text Editor.
  2. Format the text "We are not enemies, but friends" to be a Heading 2 in the first block of the Rich Text Editor.
  3. Indent the statement.

Task Two: Image Management

Component: Rich Text Editor
Objectives: Upload, format, and edit image properties

  1. Delete the image on the page.
  2. Add image “LincolnMonument.”
  3. Edit Image Properties. Make the image 500 px.
  4. Center image using Float.

  1. the image “LincolnMonument” found in the assets folder you downloaded. 
  2. Edit the image properties by changing the width of the image to 500 px. Hint: Make sure your image doesn't look distorted. 
  3. Center the image.

Task Three: Document/ Link Management

  • Edit Lincoln Full Inauguration Speech.
  • Change the PDF to

    Component: Rich Text Editor
    Objectives: Use a Box Share Link and ensure it opens in a new window.

    1. Generate a Box Share Link for the PDF “LincolnInauguralSpeech_End.”Edit Link Text
    2. Replace the Lincoln Full Inaugural Speech PDF with the “LincolnInauguralSpeech_End” PDF Box Share Link  
    3. Edit the link's text to say “End of Lincoln Inauguration Speech.

    2. Save and preview your page. Hint: Make sure your LincolnInauguralSpeech_End opens up in a new window. 
    3. Click edit to continue editing. 

    Your completed task should look like this:

    Task Four: New Component

    Component: Column Builder
    SettingObjectives: Add a component, Column Builder: Two Thirds and One Third

    1. Click into the next empty space to and add a component to the pagethe Column Builder component.
    2. Select Column Builder Type: Two Thirds and One Third.
    3. Add a row to add 4 rows. Hint: You will be adding 4 speeches and 4 images of in the speech providedupcoming steps.
    4. Use the content in the Speeches document to add content in the Sitecore editorleft columns.
    5. Mimic the bold and paragraph formatting in the document.
    6. Place the content in the first column and the image with caption images with captions in the second columncolumns.
    7. Format images as needed.

    When complete, please save the page. Specify the training date and access level
    in the comment box in the Service Desk ticket.

    Part II

    A completed row should like this:

    Step Two: Part II Assessment

    Tip

    Question 1 will ask you to confirm that you've completed the steps in the Part I Assessment. If you have not completed the Part I Assessment, please complete each step before beginning the Part II Assessment. 


    Step Three: Notify us via your Service Ticket

    In the comments section of your original JIRA service desk ticket, comment that you've completed your assessment and include your training date and Sitecore test URL.
