Sometimes other files need to be accessible on web pages. It is recommended to always convert such documents into PDFs to avoid corrupt files.

Open the Rich Text Editor.

Adding PDFs and Hyperlinks 

This page of the user guide will help Sitecore Contributors add and make changes to an existing PDF. It also provides steps for opening a PDF link in a new window. 

How to add a PDF or make A change to an existing PDF hyperlink:

All Word documents and non-image files should be converted to PDFs.

  1. Click an area inside the Rich Text Editor where you would like a file to be added or locate the text of an existing link

  1. to a PDF file. 

  2. Type in the text or change the name of the existing PDF/file in the content area

and then highlight
  1. Highlight the text

Navigate to Files folder:

Select the file from the File Directory or click Upload to upload a new file:

NOTE: As a contributor, your permissions will only allow you access to folders that are connected to your web pages. If the upload button is not functional, check to make sure you are in the proper area. 

 

 

To upload a new file, click Choose File. Navigate to and select the file you'd like to upload. Then click Upload:

Once your file has been selected and/or uploaded, click Insert:

Click Accept to make the change.

    Expand

    Sitecore students that do not have Contributor access yet will need to navigate to the folder called Sitecore Training instead of the Files folder.

    1. Click the arrow to expand the Sitecore Training folder. (see image below)

    3. Skip Steps 6 and 7 below. Continue on to Step 8.

  3. Click on your department's folder. (see image above) 

  4. Add a PDF
    To add a PDF, choose between:

    Expand
    titleI would like to add a file already in the Library. (click to expand)

    1. Click on the file you would like to add from the Library.

    2. Click Insert. (see image below)

    titleI would like to upload a new PDF. (click to expand)

    1. Click Upload.

    2. Click Choose File. (see image below)

    3. Navigate to the file you would like to upload and click Open.

    4. Click Upload. (see image above)

    5. Click Save/Close. (see image below)

    Note

    NOTE: If the upload button is not functional, make sure you have clicked on the folder you have permission to access.





  1. Highlight the link and right click.

  2. Select Properties. (see image below)

  2. Click the Target drop down menu and select New Window.

  2. Click OK.

Check to make sure your link is opening up into a new window: 

Click Save.

Click Preview and test your link.

Return to the Sitecore editor and click

  2. Click Save. (see image below)

  3. Click Other and then select Preview from the drop-down menu. (see image above)

  4. Test the link to make sure it is opening in a new window. 

  5. Click Edit to bring you back into editor mode. (see image below)

Note

Make sure to keep all of your files in an appropriate folder with good naming conventions.
