Seal of Excelencia Application
The Seal of Excelencia is a voluntary certification to recognize institutions intentionally serving Latino students. The goal of the Seal of Excelenciais to widen and accelerate institutional change to bolster equity and college completion for Latino students.
Latino college completion is improving but is not happening fast enough to close gaps in degree attainment with others. The Seal will distinguish institutions SERVING Hispanic students with intentionality and impact from other institutions, including those that are Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) based on demography and geography.
The framework of the Seal is grounded in Excelencia’s research, identification of evidence-based practices, and network of leaders committed to the common cause of Latino student success. The application aligns with the three core areas of Seal of Excelencia framework: data, practice, and leadership.
Institutions that choose to complete the Seal application will provide the following:
- A data snapshot of Latinos being served at the institution;
- Details of programs and practices intentionally serving Hispanic students; and,
- Leadership strategies committed to accelerating Latino student success.
