Box Shared Links
Box is a self-service solution that allows you to access and administer department data from any device at any location.
Updating files in Box will automatically update any Box shared links on your website. This saves you from having to update your website or submit a service ticket every time the file is revised.
Supported in all major current web browsers (i.e., Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Safari) as well as mobile devices running iOS and Android.
Allows visitors to preview documents (PDF, Word, Excel, etc.) directly in their browser without the need to install any additional software.
Accessing Your Box Account
Open your browser and go to usf.box.com.
Click the continue button which will redirect you to the USF secure sign in page.
Login using your USF email address.
Creating a Shared Link
Now that you are logged into your Box account, creating a shared link only takes a few simple steps:
From your Box files view, browse to the file or folder you want to share.
Hover over the row of the file or folder you wish to share. On the right, a link icon will appear
Click the link icon and a shared link window will open. The link will automatically copy to your clipboard and you can also access it from this window.
You can now use your shared link on your website.

Sensitive Data Controls (HIPAA/FERPA/PII) – Box is a fully compliant HIPAA / FERPA storage system. As such, the responsibility of adhering to sharing of information is owned by the individual data steward / data owner. If you would like a consultation, please contact the Security Operations Team in the USF IT Office of Information Security: secops-help@usf.edu
Updating Shared Links - Versioning
Once you have a Box shared link on your website, you can easily update that same link behind the scenes by “versioning” the file within Box. Updating the file version will automatically update the Box shared link on your website and saves you from having to update your website or submit a service ticket every time the file is revised.
Please refer to documentation on versioning files in Box: versioning.pdf
