SUDS Degree Mapping Process

Description

This is a Health SUDS process where data stewards can modify degree mappings used to translate the Health Banner Degrees into SUDS degree codes for the annual ADM files produced by IT.

Location of Files

\\TUP-SAPETLPROD.FOREST.USF.EDU\SUDS

The above shared drive folder has the following files:

    • SUDS_InputDegree.xls - File that is used by SUDS to map the degrees. Do not add or remove columns from this file.
    • SUDS_OutputDegree.csv - Secondary listing of currently unmapped Health Banner degree codes.

Rules for Data

  1. Must have a Banner Degree for each record.
  2. Must have a valid SUDS Value for every Banner Degree.

Identify New Degree Requiring Mapping

  1. Open the HBDQ-Applicant Information report in Power BI.

  2. Go to the Highest Degrees tab.

  3. Filter the page for the most recent run month and your program.

  4. Select the bar in the Degree Not Mapped for SUDS visualization.

  5. The list of unmapped degrees will appear in the Applicant Details table at the bottom of the report.

New Degree Update Process

  1. Go to the folder location.
  2. Open the SUDS_InputDegree.xls file.
  3. Add new row with the Banner Degree, suds mapping, banner description, suds description  at the end of the file .
  4. The file should be  saved. 
  5. Make sure to close out of the excel file when finished. 

It is important that the Excel files be closed and is not open for editing before the load process begins. When the data load begins if the file is open then the process will error out. The load is expected to happen .
