Connecting to an Analysis Services cube
The following article provides detailed instruction on how to connect to the EIS cubes while connected to the USF network.
Please note that these instructions are for Excel for Windows as Excel for Mac is currently not supported.
Office 365
1. Open Excel > Data tab > Get Data > From Database > From Analysis Services
Excel 2016
1. Open Excel > Data tab > Get External Data
2. Choose From Other Sources
3. Choose From Analysis Services
4. Enter Borneo.forest.usf.edu in the Server name text box
Click on 'Use Windows Authentication' as above or pick 'Use the following User Name and Password' and type in your forest\netid and password associated with your netid
5. Choose which Analysis Services domain you want to use.
In this case you can select any domain with the “EIS” prefix. These are the SmartBI domains.
Do not use any of the cubes without the EIS prefix.
6. Select the cube you want to use.
Example: Click on the “Enrollments” cube in the box and click the “Next” button in the above screenshot.
7. Saving selections for this report.
Give it an appropriate name as convenient.
8. Choose how to view the result,
Typically you want a PivotTable.
9. Now you have a pivot table interface
