INTO Reports

INTO  Reports

INTO is an international organization designed to help students from around the world succeed in higher education in the U.S., UK, and China. INTO works with a select number of universities to create academic programs that help international students adapt to the educational, social, and cultural standards and norms of university life. INTO programs are designed for students that don’t meet the academic or English requirements for direct admission to college and are available to both undergraduate and graduate students. The universities work with INTO to create Pathway programs and English language courses designed to ease students’ transitions to a new country, ensure students have the academic requirements for study, improve their English skills, and introduce courses required for their major.

The INTO University of South Florida Center offers learning and support resources along with flexible study plans and academic pathways for students to further the aims of the INTO organization.

Report : INTO Reports

The INTO report is an interactive dashboard where INTO USF users can view metrics for currently enrolled INTO students and compare them with other students at USF: INTR students, non-INTO international students, non-INTO domestic students, and other students currently enrolled in INTO as non-degree-seeking. The definitions for the student categories are as follows:

  • INTO students entered through the INTO organization and took one or more Pathway program or academic English language courses before enrolling in a degree program.
  • INTR students registered through the INTO organization; however, they met the academic and language skills required for direct admission and were referred to Admissions by the INTO Center.
  • Non-INTO Domestic students are US citizens or permanent residents who entered the university directly and not through the INTO Center.
  • Non-INTO International students entered the university directly without applying through the INTO Center.
  • The Others classification (when available) consists of students designated as INTA (Accelerated Pathway program) or INTP (Pathway program) and are not currently enrolled in a degree program at the university.

Three different reports display as interactive dashboards that allow the user to view data by student category in the top panel (INTO, INTR, non-INTO International, non-INTO Domestic, Others) and apply one or more filters on the side panel to drill into the values. Users select one or more student categories to group the data for a single category or a combination of categories. Deselecting all categories displays data for all students. The drop-down filters available in each tab are detailed in the descriptions below.

Tab 1: Enrollment with GPA

This tab of the INTO report displays the enrollment counts and average GPA trends for for the selected category of students at USF. The report provides two sets of graphical visualizations of the data:

  • Term Enrollment Trends: Three line graphs show the actual student enrollment for each year by term: Fall, Spring, and Summer.
  • Term GPA Trends: Three line graphs show the average GPA for each year by term: Fall, Spring, and Summer.

The data can be filtered in the top panel to show values by category: INTO, INTR, non-INTO International, non-INTO Domestic, Others, or any combination of these.

Tab 2: Degrees Awarded

This tab of the INTO report displays degrees awarded to USF students by term. The report provides two sets of graphical visualizations of the data in the form of line graphs, one set for undergraduate students and one set for graduate students. Degree counts display by year with a separate line for each of the categories selected in the top panel: INTO, INTR, non-INTO International, non-INTO Domestic. For example, when both INTO and INTR are selected, the graphs display the counts for each category in two lines to provide comparisons. The two sets of visualizations are:

  • Term Degree Count - Undergraduate: Displays the number of degrees awarded by year for undergraduate students. Each term has a separate line graph: Fall, Spring, and Summer.
  • Term Degree Count - Graduate: Displays the number of degrees awarded by year for graduate students. Each term has a separate line graph: Fall, Spring, and Summer.

Tab 3: Transfer 2- & 4-Year Graduation

This tab of the INTO report displays the percentage of students who have transferred into USF and graduated within 2 years or within 4 years. The data can be filtered to show values by category by making a selection in the header: INTO, INTR, non-INTO International, non-INTO Domestic, or any combination of these. For example, selecting INTO and INTR displays the percentages by year for all INTO and INTR students.
